Description of Programme
Singapore today is known to be a colourful mix of cultures, faiths, and communities. Naturally, our festivals are a rich celebration of our multicultural heritage, as we get to indulge in the sights, sounds, and flavours from our diverse origins. However, are you aware of some of the lesser-known but significant religious festivals celebrated in Singapore? This programme will highlight a calendar of 5 religious festivals that play a vital role in the communities. We will explore the origin, reasons and ways the communities are celebrating them:
1) Pongal (Hindus)
2) Thaipusam (Hindus)
3) Vaisakhi (Sikhs)
4) Vesak Day (Buddhists)
5) Hari Raya Haji (Muslims)
