Societal Collapse & Building A Sustainable Future
Look forward to a special exhibition highlighting the primary factors leading to the collapse of ancient societies like the Mayan Empire and Angkor. These factors are namely hostile neighbors, loss of trading partners, environmental damage, climate change and the society’s own responses to these problems. The exhibition also highlights commendable efforts and strategies different nations are adopting to ensure sustainability and growth. It will conclude with case studies of international collaboration efforts.
With globalisation, countries and communities are inextricably connected to one another in that action from one nation impacts the rest. Racial and Religious Tension Round the World
In his National Day Rally speech, PM Lee highlighted that there is heightened risk of religious conflict erupting, as Singaporeans become more religious in recent years. Some may become too fervent and could encroach on the faiths of others and offend them. Others may become intolerant of other religions, or keep to those of their own faith. This could lead to religious enclaves forming and fissures in racial harmony.
With these challenges in mind, SDC presents a special exhibition that will feature examples of racial and religious intolerance around the world. These include the London bombing and the Southern Thailand Insurgency. There is also a special case study on Apartheid in South Africa and its abolishment. The exhibition will also highlight efforts adopted by the various countries to cultivate racial and religious harmony.
